Who said that cooking for your dog should be time-consuming, expensive or too posh? We’ve got the perfect recipe for a healthy and balanced meal that your dog will love.
1 tbs olive oil
500g beef/turkey/lamb mince
300g frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
Fresh herbs (optional) – rosemary, parsley, basil, oregano are good for dogs.
- Heat the oil in a big soup pot, add the minced meat and 100ml water. Bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the finely chopped potatoes and cover with boiled water. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
- Add the rice and frozen vegetables, top up with more water. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If needed, add small amounts of additional water to keep the mixture from going dry.
You can keep the stew in the fridge up to 5 days or freeze it if it’s too much for your dog.
You don’t need to add salt, stock or any seasoning. Your dog will love it just the way it is. If you’re worried that your dog is not used to the taste, you can mix it with a handful of quality dry food right before serving.
This meal gives the right nutritional balance and energy levels to your dog, keeping her weight and health in check.
