In Istanbul, Turkey, heavy snowfall and extremely low temperatures froze the city in recent days. People have been struggling to move around the city, but some citizens were more concerned about the safety of the stray dogs rather than their morning commute.
Stories are emerging about people going above and beyond to help keep homeless dogs cozy and safe, laying cardboards and bringing food and blankets for the poor animals. Asked to show on camera what they’re doing, most people refused to show their faces and said they’re doing it for the animals not to gain social media popularity.
Some shops even let dogs to spend the night inside, as the weather was so cold that it was life-threatening to leave them outside.
The photos went viral and we’re hoping that they’ll inspire other cities with freezing conditions to do the same for the local dogs.
